Steven Lyons is a visual designer and illustrator living in Northern California. As an early adopter of the Mac computer for art and design­, Lyons honed his visual aesthetic creating digital illustrations for national newspapers and magazines. His most recent work employs bold and shareable visual design with the goal of amplifying progressive voices. He has created design and illustration for a diverse array of clients including AFL-CIO, EarthJustice, Mother Jones, Kaiser Permanente and University of California. His poster “No Blood for Oil”—made in response to war in the Middle East—is in the collections of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum at the Smithsonian, LACMA, and SFMoma as well as appearing in a handful of books about graphic design and its intersection with democracy and social justice movements.
